Looking back, in time, we reflect:
It started as a whine, like a puppy hungry for food, for love, for any attention from the nurturing parent, usually the mother. When the puppy finds that this whining gets the attention he craves, he continues to pester his nurturer in a similar manner into adulthood – unless the nurturer accepts responsibility for their role and stops the cycle. Is anyone listening?
He whimpers in self-pity until marriage provides a wife, someone to take over the nurturing role for this immature man. The whining continues, accelerating as children are born of the union. His children take priority with his nurturer, just as his younger siblings did when they were tiny. How dare their demands be greater than his? Me, me, me. The rage continues.
Eventually he looks elsewhere for a more sympathetic nurturer, another woman who, in time, unwittingly believes she deserves to replace the wife.
This is a mistake a mistress should avoid making, for should she supplant the wife then she, herself, becomes the object of the whinging and the cycle continues.
This story is typical of a male child born withconjunct . A cycle spinning out of control.
Gerard Baden-Clay has Mars conjunct South Node and in the first house of his horoscope wheel – his ego. Even to me as observer, this alignment shouts loud and clear – me! Me! ME! Not only was no-one listening they must have been in another room in the house not to hear him.
Dare I also point out that Mars is in the zodiac sign of Virgo – the neat freak. Oh dear, I would not want to be responsible for doing his ironing. HE wouldn’t want to be responsible for his ironing either, as Gerard Baden-Clay is his own worst critic.
And the lists! Oh boy, the lists! He would’ve made lists in his sleep of things to be done. Not to forget schemes – the more hare/hair brained the better and not to forget Dr Google for self-diagnosis of all ills. Mars in Virgo – whew! Makes me exhausted just writing the list. But to more serious things:
The dark side of Gerard Baden-Clay is revealed by Mars () in conjunction to the South Node (past issues). This is a difficult combination – often seen in disaster charts. This individual has been a walking disaster waiting to happen. The conjunction in earthy Virgo correlates with an angry overcritical perfectionist, who has been angry with his primary nurturers all his life. This anger has been an internal volcano waiting to erupt.
If I were to put my psychotherapist hat on here, in this case, I do believe thattherapies would assist in the emotional healing of the inner child and in my opinion, a form of ‘anima anxiety’ resides just beneath the surface.
The South Node can also represent the public persona of a character and this is the bright side, the ‘not in shadow’ personality of Gerard Baden-Clay – the Mars (action man) conjunct the South Node (his public face) in Virgo (good with detail, the mind of an accountant). The two versions live together in the one person, no conflict here.
A career as an accountant would not be high profile enough for this young man. He had his head tilted towards the sun – movement in the skies and aeroplanes would have held much more appeal. How he got to change his career to real estate is another story. Maybe it was as simple as that the gold-coloured jacket appealed to his Leonine personality, although I am sure there are rumblings not too far off in my research in this regard. Apart from possible air disasters, we have another disaster waiting to happen closer to home.
The ‘perceived wrong doing’ on the evening of 19 April, 2012, created the disaster waiting to happen. We have to await a possible future trial in order to learn the facts of the evening in question and how the volcano came to erupt, however we can ask an astrological question. Why this date? Why Gerard Baden-Clay?
As far as Mars is concerned, on 19 April, 2012 transiting Mars in the heavens arrived, on that fateful eve, very innocently at 03degrees Virgo 51”. This is the karmic event, when everything slotted into place.
If you refer to the birth chart of Gerard Baden-Clay you will see that at the time he was born Mars was at that very same point, 03degrees Virgo 46”. We have transiting Mars in exact conjunction with a natal Mars. A natal Mars, which is already conjunct South Node. Now that’s a very volatile mix. The whine would have been reaching a scream, a crescendo in his head.
I could leave it at that and leave you agape, however in my fair-mindedness, I am obliged to tell you that Mars orbits around the Sun every couple of years (every 687 days in fact) so this is not the first time that Mars would have transited to this conjunction. Why did the accused lose it this time round, this conjunction in particular?
Well we know that he was under a lot of stress with financial woes, he had promised his mistress that he would leave his wife and be a free man in the immediate future. Their connection (man and mistress) would more than likely have been highly charged as an earthy and sometimes nervous sexuality, especially considering his positioning of Mars.
These people want to be good at what they do. Was there a hint of a problem in this area perhaps? He was already a failure in his work, financially. Was his love-life slipping as well? This hints of a Venusian input to me.
Note: I do not have the birth details of his mistress and so until I do, I cannot confirm the above. I would not be surprised to learn that her Venus was in a fire sign. Time will tell.
Note: Toni McHugh has Venus in Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter) – that means more, more, more…
That aside, we are looking to the stars for our answers not listening to an argument that his defense team might put up, nor a pup’s whinging.
There is more in the sky than meets the eye. On 19 April, 2012 far off Neptune is lined up in the heavens in opposition to natal Mars (mirroring in a way that only Neptune can); Venus is in opposition to Gerard Baden-Clay’s natal Neptune and the Sun is at the mid-heaven, opposing his natal Venus.
Venus will conjunct with Justice and her scales will hold the balance – a heart on one side and a feather on the other.
